Madre Coraje is one of the charities working in Jerez currently. One of its main tasks is to recycle the oil that has been previously used to cook in houses or restaurants. In fact, if you are interested, you can find skips to let the oil in petrol stations along the city. But, what can they use the oil that we used to fry at home for? How can they re-use this waste? What product do they get from it? Some people will be surprised to know that they make soap from the oil. Furthermore, the production system is as easy as a sequence of tanks where they mix the oil with caustic soda, stirring it at different speeds depending on the part of the process that they are working on. The soap is sent to underdeveloped countries, mainly Peru. As a result, they help to reduce contamination here and they also contribute to improve hygiene habits in that country.

How to fertilize your garden with manure tea.

Known as "liquid vitamins" to a growing number of eco-conscious people, manure tea is a welcome fertilizer giving home gardens a boost without using harmful chemicals. This natural fertilizer is an easy-to-use product that even a first-time gardener will find simple and effective. After composting the manure for several months and adding the special touch, the mixture is packaged in an organic cotton pouch, creating a tea bag.The consumer later steeps the tea bag in water to extract the nutrients. The concoction is called an "all natural soil conditioner" that will help vegetables, flowers or lawns flourish.
